Role Overview The Student Ministry Junior High Coordinator is responsible for partnering with the student ministry team to develop and lead a ministry to Junior High students, grades 7 and 8, focused on evangelism, teaching, and discipleship in our high-performance culture to accomplish our mission to “Spread God’s Fame by Making Disciples of All People.” This position reports to the Student Pastor.
Job Classification Full-time; Non-exempt with benefits
Schedule Office Hours: Monday – Thursday 8AM to 5PM approximately 32-34 hours
Ministry Hours: Wednesday/ Saturday/ Sunday approximately 6-8 hours
*The schedule for this position may vary and incur overtime depending upon weekend assignments and ministry events that occur in the evenings and on weekends such as school activities, retreats, camps, mission trips and other special events.
Responsibilities and Expectations
In partnership with the student ministry team, plan and implement a dynamic, cutting edge, Christ-centered student ministry.
Plan, promote and lead opportunities to reach and disciple junior high students.
Support weekly activities, including Growth Groups and mid-week gatherings.
Assist in the planning of student ministry events such as retreats, discipleship weekends and camps.
Be actively involved in campus ministry by making regular campus visits, attending Christian school clubs, sporting events, concerts, performances and other school activities that involve students.
Recruit, train, resource, encourage, and support youth ministry volunteers.
Provide care, support, encouragement, and counseling to parents/guardians and families.
Contact visitors on a weekly basis through phone calls, text messages, letters, and/or visits.
Perform administrative duties that are needed to support student ministry, such as attendance records, promotion materials, correspondence, scheduling resources, collecting payments and other duties as needed.
Attend a worship service, staff meetings, and student ministry team meetings each week.
Foster a cooperative, healthy, and motivating relationship with staff, volunteers, and church families.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Committed to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
Established pattern of Bible study and prayer.
Called to full-time, vocational ministry with a passion for discipling students.
College degree preferred.
Previous experience in a student ministry role at a Baptist church or a comparable denomination.
An understanding that every student should be known, loved, and cared for like Jesus.
Ability to understand and relate to students and families.
Passionate about seeing families grow together in their faith.
Experience with recruiting, motivating, equipping, and scheduling volunteers.
Ability to use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
Flexibility to serve where needed.
Strong written, technical, oratory and creative skills with the ability to speak confidently before large groups.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Relational, self-motivated, strong work ethic, organized, dependable, reliable and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
Competency in computer/web-based technology with the capacity to learn new applications quickly.
Membership at The Cross Church is expected.
Ability to speak, read and write English.
Sufficient good health to discharge duties properly.
Passing criminal, financial, and sexual misconduct background checks required.
