_ The Opportunity_
The Student Enrollment and Data Team is focused on ensuring that schools are fully enrolled so that students are free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities. The team supports this vision through application acquisition and family onboarding, cultivation, and persistence.
We are seeking outreach workers who can connect directly with a broad base of parents and community partners committed to high-quality schools and positive change in their communities. A canvasser must have excellent relationship-building skills, physical stamina to canvass door to door, an ability to call potential applicants, and passion to help families access high-quality schools. The ideal candidate has experience doing door-to-door canvassing and community outreach and is familiar with the neighborhoods where KIPP Texas schools are located .
Key Responsibilities
Door-to-door canvassing related to enrollment or other outreach efforts.
Set up, execute, and tear down tables/booths for school-based and community events
Meet daily and weekly goals related to enrollment and outreach
Build relationships with families, community leaders, and businesses to sustain KIPP's vision of high-quality schools for all children
Approach new challenges with creativity and flexibility with a focus on measurable outcomes.
Work collaboratively with a team and colleagues
Report daily on goals, strategies, and outcomes
Keep up-to-date records on all work, including using online tools
Be available to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
Ability to manage personal transportation needs to move efficiently across neighborhoods.
Takes on additional roles and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
_ Skills and Qualifications_
At least one (1) year of experience with community engagement, and grassroots field organizing, including experience in door-to-door canvassing, political or issues campaigns, or leading a field organizing team
High School Diploma or GED required
Demonstrated skills in reading, writing, and computation
MS Office and Google Drive basic skills
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competency, and self-awareness
Self-motivated and the ability to work well in a team.
Ability to take initiative, motivate others, be accountable, and work at a fast pace
Must be able to travel to and from locations quickly and with ease
Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to physically perform the duties of the job; ability to walk and canvass for extended periods in all weather conditions
