    POSITION SUMMARY:

    We are looking for an experienced Substation Engineer to join our team and help manage our increasing workload. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and enjoys taking ownership of projects. You should be adaptable, thrive in the face of challenges, and have strong problem-solving skills. This is a hybrid position based in our Wilmington, DE, office.

    JOB FUNCTION:

    • Develop project plans, including project scope of work and WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) for complex multi-discipline-based substation Engineering projects and EPC projects
    • Manage Substation project execution, including project scope, schedule, budget, and project resources, including external vendors, consultants, and contractors
    • Effectively track and stabilize projects, implement solutions to obstacles, and ensure client goals are achieved
    • Attend client meetings and communicate concerns and changes with the client to ensure a positive relationship and growth opportunities
    • Prepare and review preliminary designs
    • Prepare proposals, including budgetary estimates
    • Lead the development of plans, specifications, studies, estimates, material lists, and other deliverables
    • Ensure team adherence to QA/QC program
    • Prepare job postings, conduct interviews, hire, onboard, train, and mentor engineers
    • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations
    • Perform project-related preliminary and pre-commissioning inspection site visits, including periodic travel to meet clients throughout North America to develop business
    • Read, interpret, and review technical drawings, schematics, isometrics, process & instrumentation diagrams, specifications, and system operating procedures
    • Develop and review bidding and construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
    • Apply knowledge of engineering principles to research, design, and evaluate products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet project requirements and generate technical reports
    • Confer with the design team to incorporate design information and client standards into the construction documents
    • Prepare/review technical reports and correspondence for project designs and studies
    • Drive safety initiatives
    • Responsible for operational efficiency, including minimizing outstanding WIP and A/R by ensuring client milestones, budgets, and expectations are met
    • Prepare/review and/or monitor complex schedules to ensure the timely completion of the project work
    • Review testing and commissioning reports of substation equipment and protection, and SCADA communications relays
    • Engage in business development efforts and prepare responses to Requests for Proposals

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
    • Minimum 8+ years of experience with substation electrical physical, protection, control, and SCADA Communication Engineering in the power industry and professional services for greenfield and brownfield substations
    • A Professional Engineering License in Power is preferred
    • Proficiency in Engineering studies software such as ETAP, EMTP, SKM, CDEGS/WinIGS, Microsoft Suite, AI tools, etc.
    • Experience in reviewing electrical, protection, control, SCADA communication schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams
    • Experience in SEL/GE relays, relay settings, system studies such as arc flash, short circuit, coordination, and engineering studies such as grounding analysis, transient studies, conduit, cable V drop, lighting, lightning, AC & DC system sizing, equipment sizing, etc.
    • Testing and commissioning of equipment and relays’ experience is preferred
    • Experience in renewable energy, such as PV, wind, and BESS, is preferred
    • Experience with 3D substation design preferred
    • Experience leading FAT and SAT for Control House, switchgear house, Transformer, etc. is preferred
    • Proficiency in engineering standards such as IEEE, NESC, NEC, OSHA, etc.
    • Proficiency with project management, resource management, and financial analysis tools
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, supervisory, and leadership skills
