    POSITION SUMMARY:

    We are seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position offers the chance to work on projects for electric utilities across voltage levels from 12kV to 500kV. As a part of this exciting and expanding field within the power systems industry, you'll gain valuable insights into the integration of renewable energy into the electric system. Candidates will leverage their knowledge of digital logic design, as well as AC and DC circuits, to develop substation electrical projects.

    The ideal candidate will adhere to quality control and safety practices, ensuring compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget. You will be an integral member of a design team that includes engineers, designers, and CAD technicians, collaborating with client standards to implement effective designs.

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

    • Proven experience executing substation physical projects.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both internal teams and clients to fulfill project requirements.
    • Conduct quality control checks on substation physical design projects.
    • Proficient in reading and designing substation physical drawings, including one-line drawings, three-line drawings, plan-section drawings, and foundation and grounding drawings.
    • Ability to create and verify bills of materials for substation physical projects.
    • Willingness to attend site visits at customer locations.
    • Mid-Level: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field with 2+ years of relevant substation physical design experience.
    • Senior-Level: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field with 4+ years of relevant substation physical design experience.
    • Lead-Level: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field with 8+ years of relevant substation physical design experience.
    • Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies.
    • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate and lead in a team environment.
    • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
    • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
    • Strong analytical skills and a proven problem-solver in both team and independent settings.
    • High level of computer proficiency.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • US Citizenship and ability to pass a DOE background check.
    • Engineer Intern (EI or EIT) certification.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
    • Familiarity with protection and control design.
    • Experience with bus calculations.
    • Proficiency in WinIGS or CDEGS software.
    • Master’s degree in a related field.
