We are seeking a Substation Physical Design Engineer to join our Power Delivery team. This position will be based in Overland Park (in office).

Responsibilities:

• Develop substation design drawings, including general arrangements, layouts, elevations, conduit plans, lightning protection, ground grid design, and bill of materials (BOM).
• Create control building layouts and equipment designs.
• Prepare bid documents and material specifications.
• Review vendor submittals and provide analysis/feedback.
• Collaborate with other disciplines (structural, civil, survey) to ensure design integration.
• Lead and mentor junior staff.
• Attend client meetings to ensure design alignment with client needs and objectives.

Requirements:

• B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE license in Kansas preferred or the ability to obtain.
• 7+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Familiar with codes and industry standards (NESC, RUS Bulletins, IEEE).
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Mathcad, and design tools.
• Experience with PLS-POLE/CADD, Osmose O-Calc Pro, ETAP, Milsoft WindMil/LightTable, and Substation Design Suite (SDS) is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of power system design and operations.
