THIS IS A SUMMER TIME SEASONAL JOB :) MAY - AUGUST
Help to produce and oversee day-to-day culinary operations and responsibilities in a summer camp kitchen located across the USA.
Ensure that high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety are always maintained throughout all kitchen areas, so no one gets hurt and all inspections are passed.
Responsible for safe, efficient kitchen workflow and delegation of kitchen tasks.
Assist in the development of menu items for special dietary restricted guests; Gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and vegan options.
Develop and follow standardized recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation which help to assure a consistent high-quality experience for campers and staff.
Minimize food costs, exercise portion and quality control of all food produced.
Follow and maintain safe food production systems and procedures for the receiving, storing, preparing, and serving of all food related products.
Coordinate food preparation and meal service using rotational menus for up to 400 guests daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and special programs.
Maintain effective quantity control based on camp food consumption.
Interact with campers and staff while maintaining an enthusiastic and welcoming attitude.
Always communicate efficiently with Hamsa management team on kitchen inventory.
In conjunction with Food Service Director, coordinate and supervise kitchen personnel regarding production, quality and cost control, and labor management.
Check freshness and quality of ingredients and maintain food production logs and temperature charts.
Work with Hamsa Cooking management team to create a memorable experience for all campers and staff.
Leading by example and staying ahead in all food production and kitchen tasks.
Look for opportunities to improve the operation and communicate this information.
Qualifications:
Must pass a background check to work around kids in the USA.
A minimum of 5 years culinary experience (summer camp experience preferred).
ServSafe Food Manager Certified.
Previous experience in food safety training, culinary arts, large scale cooking and other related high volume culinary fields.
Must have the ability to produce large quantities and delegate production of food.
Knowledge of food storage, prep, cost and labor systems.
Passion for food and cooking techniques.
Strong leadership qualities.
Must be a team player and keep the team motivated and enthusiastic.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Valid US driver’s license.
Must be available summer 2025!
