JOB SUMMARY

Assignment to a department is based on facility need and may include, Recovery/PACU, Surgery, Sterile Processing, PreOp and non-clinical departments.
Duties for the position may include; transporting patients, cleaning stretchers, instrument decontamination, patient vital signs and more. This is a working intern position. Minimum weekly commitment is 30 hours.

QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED desired. Completed undergraduate freshman year with declared medical field major preferred.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE
Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Observes and reports patient’s status and needs.
Obtains specimens and transport to appropriate department.
Transfers, moves and repositions patients.
Makes occupied and unoccupied beds.
Assists in room turnover as needed.
Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job-related hazards.
Respects and regards the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
Comply with facility Standards of Behavior and complete all required education assignments within the designated timeline.

The employee must be able to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and be able to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
