Job Purpose Paragraph
The Superintendent will manage assigned projects, including field operations, site safety, productivity, schedule, quality control, trades contractor, and supplier coordination. The Superintendent works in conjunction with the Project Manager leading the project team on the field. The Superintendent reports directly to the Project Manager. A Superintendent is a person who plans and ensures the coordination of construction jobs. They are responsible for supervising the construction project. They ensure that the quality of work and materials is upheld and that the budget is followed as planned; they are entitled to the total supervision of all the operations on the site; they ensure that the workers are implementing what is on the construction drawings and specifications; monitors the workers and the progress of the project and reports to their employers as well as to the general public. They are held liable for any happenings at the construction site and see that the project is completed on time, within budget, and that the standards are met.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Ensuring that the health and safety project plans are implemented and maintained.
Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor force
Oversee, manage, and document all day-to-day job site activities including OSHA safety compliance
Ensuring that the budget is followed in terms of field purchases
Review and approve Trade Contractor Payment Applications with Project Manager
Inspection of all crew performance and safety
Develop and maintain site logistics plan, in coordination with Project Manager
Coordinates with inspectors on the standard requirements of the site in terms of licenses and safety
Verify final record drawings are accurate
Mobilizes the site and set up site utilities
Create and implement the Project Baseline Schedule based on the project contracts and subcontractor input, considering any elements that might impact the schedule
Follows the construction process to ensure work is completed on time while preserving the quality
Supervise the subcontractors and ensure that they are punctual in correct PPE and that they deliver successfully
Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress daily to the Project Manager
Write project progress records daily, along with photo documentation
Understand and implement OSHA safety requirements sitewide
Works closely with Project Management for utilities, permits, plan checks, and Certificates of Occupancy to obtain all necessary approvals
Knowledgeable of SWPPP requirements site-wide and mitigate any impact on the outlying community
Manage subcontractor closeout, transfer of utilities, owner training, work list and punch list
