Job Summary:
The Superintendent is responsible for the on-site management and supervision of utility construction projects in Temple Hills, MD. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The Superintendent will oversee field operations, manage subcontractors, coordinate with project managers, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
Responsibilities:
- Project Execution:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day field operations of utility construction projects.
- Ensure projects are completed according to plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Monitor project progress and identify and resolve potential issues or delays.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to safety standards.
- Safety Management:
- Enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Team Management:
- Supervise and direct field crews and subcontractors.
- Provide guidance and training to field personnel.
- Monitor crew performance and address any performance issues.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Project Coordination & Communication:
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation, including daily reports, progress reports, and safety logs.
- Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders.
- Attend project meetings as required.
- Coordinate utility locates.
- Resource Management:
- Manage and allocate equipment and materials effectively.
- Control project costs and ensure adherence to budget.
- Track and report on project expenses.
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in utility construction.
- Proven experience in managing underground utility projects (water, sewer, gas, electrical).
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in using construction management software (e.g., Procore, etc.).
- Strong understanding of OSHA safety regulations.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of the Temple Hills, MD area, and its permitting process, is a plus.
