Job Description for Candidates
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to provide on-site coordination for all phases of construction on small to large-scale healthcare projects throughout Central Illinois. The ideal candidate will oversee the day-to-day construction activities, ensuring that all project phases—from start-up to punch-out—are executed efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise on-site activities for healthcare construction projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and schedule objectives.
- Coach and manage subcontractors to adhere to safe construction practices and maintain high-quality standards.
- Implement and enforce infection control measures and interim life safety policies specific to healthcare settings.
- Maintain and update the project schedule, manage critical path tasks, and coordinate subcontractor efforts to meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with the project design team and stakeholders to resolve challenges and address unforeseen conditions.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and submittals, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
- Provide daily progress reports and weekly schedule updates to stakeholders.
The Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of the construction project are completed on-site, from initiation to completion, while adhering to the best practices in safety, quality, scheduling, and cost management. This role will require effective relationship-building with trade partners, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 10 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years in healthcare construction.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience managing construction projects.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Comprehensive understanding of subcontractor coordination, construction sequencing, and project scheduling.
- Familiarity with ASI’s (Architect’s Supplemental Instructions), RFI’s (Requests for Information), and material submittals.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, MS Project, and Procore software.
- Experience with CMAR (Construction Manager at Risk) and/or Design/Build delivery methods is a plus.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and maintain a client-focused approach.
- Willingness to travel within Central Illinois to various job sites.
- OSHA 30-hour certification.
- Valid Driver’s License.
