Summary
The Financial Reporting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the preparation and analysis of financial and tax reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and supporting the financial planning and decision-making process. This role is critical in providing accurate and timely financial information to senior management and stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for Financial Reporting including:
- Preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for all business units & consolidated in accordance with GAAP
- Lead month-end close process. Ensure proper reconciliations, accruals, allocations and adjustments are processed with an easy-to-follow audit trail.
- Prepare bank and general ledger account reconciliations to ensure that all outstanding items are valid, supportable, and collectible. Ensure proper valuation of all assets and liabilities.
- Oversee general ledger maintenance.
- Review & analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Tax Reporting
- Oversee the preparation of Federal, State and Local tax reporting and analysis.
- Preparation of Business, Professional & Occupational License Renewals.
- Preparation of Business Property Tax filings & payments.
- Preparation of monthly & quarterly VA Sales & Use Tax filings and payments.
- Preparation of other filings as needed.
- Compliance
- Coordinate and manage external financial statement process and regulatory reviews to include workpaper preparation.
- Ensure all financial, tax and regulatory reporting deadlines are met.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures.
- Respond to requests for information and various projects received from management.
- Continue to find ways to automate and increase efficiencies between various operating systems including Accounting system, Fixed Assets, Job Costing, etc.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Supervisor – Financial Reporting will supervise the financial reporting staff to include training and development opportunities, conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback.

Special Skills And Abilities
- Must be knowledgeable and proficient in the financial month-end close process
- Knowledgeable of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and good understanding of chart of accounts and accounting systems.
- Ability to collaborate with other departments to gather necessary information for financial analysis.
- Must be organized and detailed-oriented.
- Must have strong attention to detail, accuracy, good judgment, initiative, decision making and time management and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent of education and experience. At least 4 years work experience in Accounting required with 2 years of financial reporting responsibilities with a CPA firm preferred.
