    Our client has an immediate need for an experience Purchasing Manager for an established and growing global manufacturing company. This person will lead a team of 6-8 people in the Purchasing Supply Chain function that encompasses multiple sites. We are seeking purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment and specific experience with SAP. This role is crucial in managing and enhancing supplier relationships, leading the supplier approval process, and implementing lean manufacturing practices to optimize materials cost, minimize risks related to quality and delivery, and foster continuous improvement initiatives.

    Position: Purchasing Manager

    Location: Clinton, IA (relocation assistance offered)

    Compensation: $110K-$120K + 10% bonus

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and mentor the supply chain team, with a focus on talent development, succession planning, and performance management.
    • Oversee relationships with direct materials and MRO suppliers, developing strategies to maintain quality, timely delivery, and consistent supply flow.
    • Collaborate with Operations to assess capacity needs and recommend adjustments as necessary.
    • Develop and implement procedures to effectively integrate incoming demand with operational plans, ensuring alignment with capacity and efficient resource utilization.
    • Create and implement lean strategies for materials management to distinguish normal from abnormal conditions and reduce waste. Lead initiatives to promote lean practices.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Required:
      • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
      • Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain roles within a manufacturing setting, with demonstrated experience leading or influencing teams.
      • Proven track record of managing and collaborating with suppliers.
    • Preferred:
      • 7 years of supply chain experience with leadership responsibilities in a manufacturing environment.
      • Experience with SAP systems.
      • Demonstrated ability to develop systems and processes using lean tools.
