Job Summary: We are in search of a Surgical Nurse for our surgery center located in Glenview, IL. The Surgical Nurse is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of all surgical procedures in the office, including the OR and procedure rooms. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in surgical nursing, demonstrating expertise in patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role requires a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, as well as proficiency in aseptic techniques and medical documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership
Oversee the surgical operations in both the clinic and the OR.
Promote teamwork and effective communication among staff, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals.
Ensure patients receive optimal care before, during, and after their procedure/surgery.
Maintain patient safety and comfort by adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
Patient Care
Prepare the sterile surgical field with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for the procedure based on the surgeon’s preference.
Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
Work as a surgical scrub and assist during the procedure/surgery.
Manage IV access for procedure patients.
Operate and manage all surgical equipment.
Manage surgical dressings.
Assist with patients while in the recovery room.
Facilitate patient discharge.
Properly manage specimen processing.
Operational
Manage the daily surgical operations, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functioning.
Maintain a sterile and safe operating environment, adhering to infection control protocols and OSHA standards.
Cleaning and sterilizing of instruments trays and surgical packs.
Maintaining clinical logs, (temperatures, biologic testing, etc.)
Maintain clinical equipment preventative maintenance.
Monitor, maintain, and order all surgical inventory supplies, including medications.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care and surgical procedures.
Report any adverse events or concerns to management and contribute to incident investigations when necessary.
Requirements
A registered nurse (RN) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical nursing role.
Skills & Competencies
Strong clinical skills in the operating room environment.

In-depth knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and OR equipment.
