Levenson Eye Associates is a multisite ophthalmology practice with locations throughout the Jacksonville metropolitan area. Our experienced and skilled caregiver team specializes in the management of all eye related diseases. We use the most advanced technology available to provide the highest quality care to our patients and improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve.
Position Summary: The Ophthalmic Surgery Coordinator is responsible for scheduling patients for surgery and pre-operative testing, preparing surgical chart(s) as well as reviewing medications and health history as needed. The surgical coordinator will work with the ophthalmologists, surgery center manager and their direct manager to assist with managing the doctors’ schedules, quantity and timing of surgery cases.
Location: Home office 751 Oak Street, Suite 200, Jacksonville, FL 32257. As necessary, will be required to travel to our Orange Park and Mandarin locations. Will provide mileage reimbursement.
Schedule: Monday through Friday. Hours vary based on 7:30 am to 6:00 pm clinic hours.

Salary: $19 - $22/hr
Job Responsibilities
Make all surgery packets
Interacts with all internal and external customers in a caring and respectful manner.
Schedules surgeries and coordinates appointments in accordance with established protocols to include follow-up appointments.
Coordinate processes and route all paperwork as required to meet physician and surgery center requirements.
Verify patient’s insurance benefit coverage.
Photocopies records and forms according to established policies and procedures.
Maintains patient confidentiality and health records in accordance with HIPAA/HITECH privacy/security guidelines.
Schedule pre-operative testing, calculations, surgery appointment day, post operative appointments and submit electronic prescriptions
Patient Interaction
· Ascertain that all consent forms are completed and signed prior to surgery
· Walk patient through “to do” instructions for before and after surgery.
· Explain financial requirements and collect fees prior to surgery.
· Charge Entry/Payment Posting:
· Verify accuracy on all patient encounter forms.
Accurately input all charges related to the physician’s professional services into the practice management system. All charge batches should balance in both number of procedures and total dollar.
Accurately post all payments received for physician’s professional services into the practice management system. All payment batches must be balanced in both their dollar value of payments and adjustments.
Responsible for surgical chart verification with manager prior to surgery
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
Qualifications/Requirements
WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum two years’ experience in a medical office/health care setting. (Preferred) Surgery scheduling experience. (Preferred) Knowledge of clinic processes.
COMPUTER SKILLS Strong computer knowledge including the full Microsoft Suite Able to navigate multiple system applications.
CUSTOMER SERVICE Ability to interact with patients from all economic, educational, social, etc., backgrounds. Ability to treat all patients with respect and with an efficient and friendly manner. Smile and greet the patient. Ensure the patient is satisfied through respectful communication.
COMMUNICATION Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written in a manner conducive to the company’s goals and mission with a respectful demeanor towards patients, staff, management and doctors. Adapt communication style when interacting with all ages.
Additional Skills
Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills High attention to detail. Familiar with medical terminology (preferred) Must be open to travel between satellite offices as needed.
