    Job Description

    As a Surveyor Assistant at Haile Gold Mine, you will play a critical role in the efficient and safe operation of our open-pit mining. Your responsibility will be to accurately measure, map, and monitor the progress of mining operations to ensure compliance with regulations, safety standards, and production targets. You will utilize surveying technology and techniques to gather data and provide essential information.

    • Complies with all safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures.
    • Set-out design control, drill holes, and grade control on time according to work priorities in an active mining environment.
    • Be physically fit to traverse shot muck while preforming blockouts.
    • Safely work around heavy machinery including but not limited to haul trucks, loaders, and drills.
    • Proactively check as built for design compliance as areas are mined and provide additional control as required to remediate variances.
    • Maintain record of survey data.
    • Using computer software to produce plans and data for operations and technical team.
    • Proactively seek to attain part 107 remote pilot’s license.
    • Collect geotechnical data at the required interval and according to specifications determined by geotechnical Engineer.
    • Assist Senior Surveyor with any requested tasks.
    • Carries out all other duties that may reasonably be required
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Valid State Driver’s license required.
    • Previous experience in civil surveying, 1-3 years of experience.
    • Previous experience, 1-3 years of experience in a hard rock mining environment preferred.
    • Previous experience with Trimble GPS Platform is preferred.
    • Education: High School Diploma / G.E.D. is preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk on uneven ground, climb rock piles, stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
    • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
    • Work is in a surface mine setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
    • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
    • Work schedule will consist of an 8-6 rotation (8 days on, 6 days off rotating on Wednesdays of each week).
    • Daily scheduled shift is set at 10 hours but may extend to 12 as work demands change throughout the shift.
