Polco is seeking a detail-oriented, data-driven Survey Research Associate to join our Survey Research Team!

    Who We Are

Polco is a public engagement technology startup specializing in community surveys and civic engagement services for local governments and other public-sector clients across the United States. We’re dedicated to transforming how governments, representatives, and community organizations interact with the communities they serve—we’re all about civic engagement and creatively bringing new and innovative technologies to the front lines of public governance. We are innovators with a passion for improving public discourse, and we are data nerds excited about data-driven decision making. Our team comes from every walk of life and all corners of the country, and we’re all problem solvers at heart.

    Your Role at Polco

As Survey Research Associate, you will work closely with Polco’s customers, Polco’s products, your Survey Research Team colleagues, and our Data Science and Product Teams. In the client-facing aspects of your role, you will be responsible for implementing templated surveys and reporting, and responding to questions from customers throughout the lifecycle of a project. We will expect you to convey the benefits of our products and ensure our customers understand our processes, tools, and services. Robust and ongoing communication with our customers and your colleagues will be essential to ensuring our clients successfully use and gain insight from Polco’s products.

A key aspect of this position will be programming content onto Polco’s platform. This involves implementing survey processes, managing question development and outreach, and generating template-based reports. You will work cross-functionally with Polco’s other teams to understand Polco’s new product functionality and communicate any changes to customers. Additionally, we will expect you to be the voice of the customer by providing critical feedback to our Product Team to help improve clients' experiences and satisfaction with our products, tools, and services.

This position is best suited for a highly organized person who is technologically savvy and eager to assist both colleagues and clients with a variety of tasks on a day-to-day basis. Our Survey Research project managers have come to Polco with experience in diverse fields that have required acute attention to detail while managing competing priorities (e.g., vendor and client relationships, deadlines, and budgets). In addition to being attentive and organized, we are looking for a teammate who is inquisitive, able to identify opportunities for improved company growth, and excited to contribute to the development of data-driven strategies.

During your first few months, your responsibilities will include:

    • Shadowing and assisting Survey Research Team members in all aspects of our survey processes; this includes survey creation, programming, sampling, creating outreach materials, finalizing reports for clients, and performing quality assurance checks
    • Learning to promptly respond to client questions, resolve technical issues and requests for information, and manage engagement and outreach efforts
    • Supporting colleagues and clients through the lifecycle of their survey projects
    • Understanding and conveying the value of Polco and our benchmark survey products to our clients
    • Using various mediums of communication to troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise

With training, your responsibilities will evolve to include:

    • Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously while effectively managing scope, schedule, quality, resources, and risk
    • Monitor and manage project plans to provide a complete picture of project progress and performance at all times
    • Ensure that projects produce the required deliverables on time and at the necessary level of quality
    • Present survey results insights to key stakeholders
    • Collaborate with clients with the goal of building strong relationships built on trust and commitment
    • Recognize and suggest potential system and process enhancements that could be made to increase effectiveness or efficiency of internal and external processes

    What You’ll Bring:

    • A BA, BS, or any combination of skills and experience that would allow for success in the position
    • Minimum of 3 years related experience, preferably in client-facing roles that involved project management
    • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Asana (or a similar work-management tool)
    • Experience with Tableau, data analysis, and reporting (R, SPSS, Excel) is preferred
    • Background in survey research or market research and knowledge of survey methodology and best practices
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

    Our Perks and Benefits:

    • Exceptional benefits package including dental, medical, and vision coverage
    • A 100% remote role with the option to go into the office if you’re nearby our headquarters in Madison, WI
    • Flexible work hours, 15 company holidays, and generous paid time off
    • A significant chance to improve how government works and the opportunity to work with a passionate and dedicated team
