Surveying Technician I - Rodman/Instrument Operator

Position Summary: JMT is currently seeking Surveying Technician I - Rodman/Instrument Operators for their New Bern, Sylva and Asheville, North Carolina Offices. The successful candidate for this position may operate surveying instruments, such as conventional and Robotic Total Stations, Static and RTK/VRS GPS, and conventional and electronic levels. Position may be responsible for taking field notes, making field sketches, and entering data into data collectors and computers.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field 90% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 30 lbs. as needed. Work will be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. The employee will be required to walk while carrying equipment in various conditions and terrains from steep slopes to swaps and congested urban areas and roadways.
Work is performed within a general office environment 10% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Anticipated travel 20% of the time.
