Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and encouraging Swim Instructor to join our team! As a Swim Instructor, you will teach students about water safety and swimming techniques using our approved curriculum. The ideal candidate is a strong swimmer who enjoys working with children and has a positive attitude!
Responsibilities
Provide swim instruction based on approved curriculum.
Enforce all safety guidelines and regulations
Rescue swimmers needing assistance and administer First Aid and CPR when necessary.
Visibly inspect pool and swimming areas for cleanliness and possible maintenance issues.
Maintain and ensure proper storage of all pool equipment. Place and remove lane lines.
Report accidents and incidents to management. Complete required documentation and paperwork.
Complete all paperwork as it pertains to student records and progress reports.
Perform ad hoc duties as needed (e.g. office/clerical work, marketing & event participation, etc).
Display excellent customer service and communicate to everyone who comes to the facility.
Smile and have fun during the entire shift. Assure that the last student gets the same enthusiasm as the first student.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED is preferred.
Must have a passion for the water and working with children.
Experience as a certified lifeguard, swimming instructor, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider is preferred.
Ability to work in a positive way with a wide range of students with special needs and varying ages.
Swimming experience preferred.
First aid/CPR certified
Positive attitude and friendly demeanor
Willingness to receive training
Strong swimming abilities preferred
Physical, Chemical and Vision Requirements
Must have ability perform the duties of a rigorous work schedule which includes lifting, loading, and unloading, and ability maneuver up to 50 lbs.
Dependable motor vehicle transportation a must.
Ability to work in and around swimming pools with exposure to chlorinated and chemically treated water.
Potential Toxic or caustic chemicals
Exposure to motor noises and work near moving mechanical parts
Visually recognize an emergency
Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point)
Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more) and Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
