    The following provides a detailed description for the position of Elevate Swim Instructor. Actual duties performed may vary.

    The Swim Instructor provides group and private instructions and ensures the safety of patrons of the aquatic department while working with the General Manager to manage overall operations of the pool.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

     Provides group and private swim lesson instruction

     Coordinates use of the pool for program activities and events, clearly communicates needs to General Manager to ensure accurate and proactive

    scheduling of lessons relative to general pool operations (i.e. lap swim)

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

     Red Cross (preferred) Certification in swim instruction (or comparable certification)

     Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

     Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.

     Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department if required.

     Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.

     Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.

     Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

     Ability to enforce aquatic department rules and regulations.

     Must have positive attitude and be able to motivate staff in a positive manner and promote team spirit.

     Possess strong motivational, communication, team building and training skills.

     Must have excellent time management skills. Required Experience, Education and Certifications

    Physical Demands

     Position duties require daily standing, walking, sitting, lifting, bending, squatting, reaching and swimming.

     Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business-related documents such as financial reports and legal documents.
