Part-time Section 508 Compliance Document Specialist
Job Description
Synergy Enterprises, Inc., a minority and woman owned government contractor, is seeking a Part-Time Section 508 Document Compliance Specialist to work in its Silver Spring, MD headquarters on an as-needed basis. The Section 508 Document Compliance Specialist will be responsible for generating and coding documents to be read by screen readers, performing compliance checks, and training internal and external clients on document accessibility and section 508. The Section 508 Document Compliance Specialist will report to the Division Director. Primary Responsibilities:
· Prepare, test, and analyze documents to ensure compliance with Section 508 requirements.
· Utilize CommonLook and Adobe Acrobat to identify errors in document structure, headings, reading order, images, charts and tables, and any other document errors as they occur.
· Prepare templates for authors to use in document preparation.
· Create accessible PDF forms.
· Stay current on Section 508 policy and federal agency accessibility checklists.
· Evaluate 508 testing tools and new software.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum 3 years’ experience in MS Word, PowerPoint, and administrative responsibilities.
Organizational and administrative skills, strong attention to detail.
Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Eye for grammar, spelling, and writing skills.
Experience playing a key role on a multidisciplinary team, with work hours as deadlines require.
Ability to quickly learn and integrate new tools and technologies to meet customer needs.
