System Safety Engineer Job Description:
The System Safety Engineer implements systems principles and concepts, as well as scientific, technological, and management methods to: master and tame the unwieldy complexity of modern warfighting systems development. reduce the paralyzing uncertainty among engineering design alternatives and acquisitions decision making. In this role you will analyze and interpret design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications and product requirements. Functions in a Model-Based Systems Engineering database.
Pr imary Qualifications:
- Must be able to work directly with customers and project leadership to report out on safety program status, and will be responsible for preparing reports, and reviewing subcontractor safety documentation and analyses
- Have an understanding of System Safety Engineering, improve and evolve the System Safety process and methodology, and be an ambassador of the discipline within the company
- Able to work on tasking which will include requirements analysis, interface analysis, and operations analysis, as well as system safety test and verification
- Create prediction models and mathematical analyses supporting product reliability, maintainability & availability
- Familiarity with ejection seat systems and weapon employment systems
- Create presentations and provide briefings to customers and company senior management
- Read and understand engineering reports, drawings, and electrical wiring diagrams/schematics
- Knowledge on how to coordinate several projects and complex engineering activities while balancing priorities and schedules, engaging in effective time management, working with a great deal of independence
Must Have Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
- A minimum of 5+ years of work experience as a Systems Safety engineer or related role
- Candidates are required to have excellent communication skills to convey technical issues and status in both written and oral form to internal and external customers
- The candidate must be adaptable to change, determined to accomplish tasks based on program schedule, collaborate with their team to make the best decisions, enjoy learning new technologies, be self-motivated and contribute to a positive work environment
- Experience- Industry specifics/ insights, practical/ hands on skills that will be gained, exposure to the latest tools and technology in the industry
