    About the Role:

    Aquila is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The Systems Administrator will work with IT teams across the division to provide Linux systems in support of cyber security research.

    There are a few requirements for the position:

    • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
    • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)

    What You'll Do:

    Maintains operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination of infrastructure and cloud responsibilities. Develops and designs core operating system builds. Responsible for coding, virtualization, and automation of systems. Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains an active directory of users and system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space. Assesses and resolves user access problems related to security controls to minimize business impact and risk exposure. Identifies and evaluates vendor products and establishes vendor monitoring and tracking processes. Performs capacity planning and monitors/tunes systems. Recommends appropriate platforms for purchase, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery. Serves as a point of escalation for major incidents that are unresolved at the helpdesk level. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. May draft general IT communications to end-users including notifications of outages/downtimes.

    Required skills:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience (seeking junior candidates 1-5 years experience)
    • At least one year of experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux/Rocky/Alma and Debian/Ubuntu Linux
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
    • Team-oriented with the ability to interact with others respectfully and develop productive working relationships
    • Effective at written and oral communication

    Preferred Skills:

    • Experience with configuration management tools, preferably Ansible and Puppet
    • Experience with security hardening such as STIGs or CIS Benchmarks
    • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST Risk Management Framework, NIST 800-171, and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification
    • CompTIA Security+ certification
    • Professional Linux certification such as Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator, Linux Professional Institute Linux Essentials, or similar

    Must Have

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 1 years Configure and Manage Centralized Logging and Audit Capabilities
    • 1years Hardware: Intel/AMD, Cisco, Sun/Oracle, Dell, Apple, EMC, NetApp
    • 1 yearsLinux system administration (RedHat + Ubuntu)
    • 1 years MS Active Directory, LDAP
    • 1 years Systems Administration
    • 1 yearsTechnologies including DNS, DHCP, Proxy and Load Balancing

    Nice to Have:

    • CompTIA Security+ Certification
    • IT system security compliance (NIST, PCI, HIPPA, CMMC)
    • Software Configuration Management (Puppet or Ansible)
    • Virtualization Technologies (VMware, including ESXi and VCenter configuration)
    • Virtualization Technologies to include VM management, Snapshots, SANs and iSCSI Storage Systems
    • VM Ware ESXi and Associated Management Systems

    Applicable Education and Professional Accreditation:

    • Degree in one of the following disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or a related technical discipline
    • Certification(s) in one or more of the following disciplines: Solaris administration, Red Hat, VMWare, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); CompTIA Security+; Linux Professional Institute Certification
    • Any prior military experience is a plus. They will modify the years of experience or the required Bachelor's Degree if someone has the majority of the technical skills and a military background.

    Location: Hybrid, On-site, Lexington, Ma - Hybrid - This role does have hybrid capability. Onsite requirements to be determined with hiring manager.
