    Job Summary:

    The Skilled Laborer position assists the skilled craft personnel in performing required construction tasks to complete a project.

    Education:

    • Highschool or equivalent
    • Valid driver's license
    • Authorized to work in the United States

    Experience:

    • Experience and proficiency working with standard laborer tools such as (but not limited to): sledgehammers, shovels, brooms, vacuums, pressure washers and general hand tools.
    • Prior general/skilled labor experience required
    • Concrete experience preferred

    Responsibilities:

    • Operate and care for construction equipment and machines.
    • Prep construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards.
    • Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
    • Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.
    • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
    • Mix, pour, or spread concrete, using portable cement mixers.
    • Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment or to heat or move materials, such as asphalt.
    • Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures.
    • Sweeps and cleans the project site.
    • Carries lumber and supplies to Carpenters
    • Helps carpenters assemble concrete forms
    • Assists welders when needed
    • Works with cranes and rigging
    • Acts as signal person for the equipment operators
    • Chips, paints, sweeps, and washes down equipment on the job site
    • Safely secure the work area to allow only authorized personnel onto work zone
    • Loads and unloads materials from, deck barges, and miscellaneous equipment
    • Provide assistance to craft workers, such as carpenters, plasterers, or masons.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    Physical Demands / Working Environment:

    • Work is performed in the field and in all-weather condition
    • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 75 pounds.
    • Ability able to tolerate, vibrations, heat, and high noise levels
    • Able to safely execute duties in and round heavy equipment/large machinery in marine dredging and marine construction job sites
    • Able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, safety glasses, personal flotation devices, respirators, etc.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Minimum of 5 years of senior-level experience with: Windows servers, Hypervisors, network equipment and tools are required.

    • Extensive experience with hardware, Active Directory, PowerShell script creation, Storage Area Networks, and VMware are a must as well as proven adherence to best practices throughout professional experience.

    • Strong communication, training, and problem-solving skills, with ability to rapidly master new computing technology are essential.

    • Industry certifications extremely desirable.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of Windows servers, desktop products, facilitation and change management skills a must.

    • High level of customer service required.

    • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, required.

    • Works with the faculty and staff to build an environment that promotes and facilitates the success of Diversity and Inclusive Excellence.

    Working Conditions:

    • Work duties performed in temperature-controlled office, and also throughout campus with frequent customer interaction.

    • May be asked to work remotely at the Tampa, Celebration or DeLand campus as needed.

    • Requires some physical effort such as standing, walking, frequent lifting (5-70 lb.), and manual dexterity in the operation of equipment.

    • May require extended periods of time at a keyboard and screen, perceptual demands for sound, form, texture and depth.

    • May also require work hours outside the normal College of Law schedule, on-call availability, including nights, weekends and College of Law holidays.
