    This position will require significant on-site attendance. Therefore, preference will be given to local candidates. No relocation monies are associated with this position.

    Summary

    Forge Nano Inc. is a fast-growing materials company with a focus on manufacturing nano-scale coatings across a wide range of markets. Forge Nano is seeking a Systems Engineer II to join their Engineering Design and Manufacturing Team. This position will focus on system integration between mechanical, electrical, and software components for their ALD production equipment, as well as standardization and documentation of engineering processes and instrument selection.

    The Systems Engineer II should be prepared to work and collaborate in several different engineering disciplines. This role requires a detailed oriented individual who is comfortable working with an interdisciplinary engineering team.

    Responsibilities

    The Systems Engineer may be responsible for tasks and skills such as (non-exhaustive):

    • Reviewing and auditing PLC logic using IEC 61131-3 approved languages.

    • Generating Control Narrative Documentation with respect to Interlocks, Control Loops, Cable Schedules, Safety Loops, etc.

    • Specifying and configuring industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, IO-Link, etc.

    • Specifying control panel electrical components and requirements for automation needs.

    • Troubleshooting control panels and instrumentation with Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, and other measurement devices.

    • Commissioning and Start-Up support for alpha systems.

    • Developing workflows, training, and documentation to enable others to independently configure, commission, test, and debug established products.

    • Referencing, redlining, and updating P&IDs, instrumentation lists, electrical schematics, and bills of materials.

    • Documenting subsystems for the design team, manufacturing team, and equipment user manuals.

    • Generating and maintaining software documentation, including UML diagrams, code reviews, bug tracking, unit testing, version control, and deployment records.

    • Contributing to new PLC and HMI software features and creating tools to streamline software deployment and updates.

    • Designing, improving, and standardizing new hardware features for semiconductor process equipment.

    Required Experience and Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in a physical science or engineering discipline.

    • 4+ years of combined experience working with vacuum systems, industrial controls, scientific equipment design, or process equipment design.

    • 2+ years of experience in the thin-film deposition equipment design and manufacturing space.

    • 1+ years of experience with SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, or AutoCAD Electrical.

    • Familiarity with technical controls programming and software version control. Experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT Automation Software preferred.

    • Familiarity with industrial standards such as UL508a, NFPA 79, IEC 61131-3, and applicable SEMI standards.

    • Experience with process equipment automation, valves, instrumentation, and troubleshooting complex systems is required.

    • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

    • Strong communication skills and experience working with interdisciplinary teams.

    • Working knowledge of mechanical principles and assembly techniques pertaining to Ultra-High Vacuum systems is required.

    • Experience with RF power systems, UHV vacuum equipment, or atomic layer deposition a plus.

    • Experience with control panels, low-voltage instrumentation, and electrical distribution is also desirable.

    Work Environment

    This is a hybrid role requiring occasional-to-frequent in person attendance, depending on project workloads. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, steel toe shoes, lab coat, and in the plant, a hard hat. Strict adherence to corporate and/or plant policies, rules and regulations in these areas is required.     Travel

    Up to 15% travel to client locations may be required.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • $90,000 - $105,000 depending on qualifications
