The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for the management analysis and review of a number of general ledger accounts and will be the subject matter expert for transactions, process flows and analytical explanations for each account assigned. This is a hands-on roll up your sleeves type role that requires a positive, collaborative, driven and solutions-oriented person with the ability to develop a deep understanding of the overall business and application of applicable accounting standards. This can be a fully remote position!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Significant role in the monthly financial close which includes journal entry preparation and reconciliation of sub ledgers, and account analysis to ensure GAAP compliance
- Ability to reconcile high volume and complex accounts
- Reviews S G & A accounts ensuring proper classification of expense, prepaids and fixed assets
- Provides guidance to AP to resolve S G & A expenses, prepaid and accrued expenses
- Works with Corporate functional leaders to understand expenses and related assets
- Manages fixed asset system recording additions and disposals
- Works with IT to capitalized internally developed software
- Analysis of displayed product movements for additions and disposals
- Calculates and posts Depreciation
- Conducts annual fixed asset audit
- Prepares annual property tax declarations
- Reviews monthly purchases and assesses use tax as required
- Partner with parent company accounting team on ASC 842 lease accounting
- Updates and reconciles employee related cash and liability accounts
- Works with external accounting firms to ensure proper trial balances for consolidations
- Key partner in annual audits
- Expected to recommend and implement improvements to reconciliation and reporting processes
- Other key projects and duties as assigned to drive company initiatives
Required Skills
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- BS in Accounting required, Masters degree/and or CPA a plus
- 6-8 yrs experience showing progressive growth
- Superior Microsoft Excel skills including pivot table, v-lookup and advanced functions
- Strong analytical abilities, problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Solid workflow planning skills and flexibility to manage multiple assignments and responsibilities
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with, educate and influence functional partners effectively
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- JD Edwards and Business Objects report writing a plus
- Retail industry exposure a plus
