Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Freight Audit Specialist to join our dynamic team at TA Services, a leading third-party logistics provider (3PL). As a Freight Audit Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and executing freight audit processes, ensuring accurate billing, and resolving discrepancies related to transportation invoices. This role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a deep understanding of freight audit procedures and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducting Freight Audit: Perform detailed audits of freight bills and invoices received from carriers, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contractual terms and conditions.
Invoice Verification: Review and validate transportation charges, rates, and related information against contractual agreements, tariffs, and industry standards.
Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies or billing errors by collaborating with carriers, internal teams, and external stakeholders, ensuring timely resolution and accurate financial records.
Contract Compliance: Ensure compliance with carrier contracts, tariff regulations, and applicable laws, identifying and addressing any deviations or potential risks.
Data Analysis: Analyze transportation data, including volume, rates, and costs, to identify trends, patterns, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports and summaries of audit findings, highlighting discrepancies, cost variances, and process improvement recommendations for management review.
Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance freight audit processes, identifying areas for automation, streamlining, and efficiency gains.
Relationship Management: Foster strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate effective communication, dispute resolution, and process collaboration.
Freight Payment Management: Coordinate with finance or accounts payable teams to ensure timely and accurate payment of approved invoices, adhering to company policies and procedures.
Industry Knowledge: Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to freight audit and transportation management.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Prior experience in freight audit, transportation billing, or related roles within the logistics industry is highly desirable.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret data to drive insights and decision-making.
Proficiency in using transportation management systems (TMS) or freight audit software is preferred.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Familiarity with transportation contracts, tariffs, and regulatory requirements is an advantage.
Proficiency in using MS Office applications, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
