PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor and PMO lead, this position is responsible for operating packaging, tray, and scale equipment in the processing of value added fresh vegetable products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

Responsibilities include:

• Operate Hayssen packaging and scale equipment
• Operate tray equipment
• Perform set-ups, shut downs, and adjust control settings and logic
• Solve problems relating to specifications for packaging quality, weights, fills, seals, tray, and film runs
• Perform quality checks, product and film changeovers, mechanical adjustments, and required paperwork
• Assist dryer, packaging and stacking teams to ensure productivity accuracy and efficiency
• Ensure quality and safety of raw and finished product
• Ensure safe operating process for all equipment

IMPACT/SCOPE OF POSITION:

• Vital to meeting productivity and quality standards of DFV’s salad products.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:                      

• H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent; BS desirable

EXPERIENCE:                     

• 3-4 years experience in a production environment
• Manufacturing / food experience desirable

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:   

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Solid mechanical skills 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

LANGUAGES: 

English – well written & spoken. 

OTHER:       

Must have the ability to make decisions, appear for work on time, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept constructive criticism. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be tolerant of cold and able to function well in a chlorinated air, production environment.  Job requires consistent, standing, with moderate amounts of reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting.  Must be able to lift up to 49 pounds without assistance.  No special vision requirements are necessary.
