SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of scrap steel warehouse. Each shift may have a Group Leader and each is independent of the other, however, day-to-day communication and cooperation among Group Leaders is essential. Individual Group Leaders report directly to Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages all subordinate in plant operations., Assists management with the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the plant operations department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes recommendations regarding performance reviews, rewarding and disciplining employees.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Two year degree from a college or technical school; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, quality manuals, operational procedure, work instructions and technical manuals. Ability to write process procedures, standards, work instructions, routine reports and business correspondence, Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate percentages, area, circumference and volume and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use various personal computer software (Microsoft Windows, Lotus Notes). Knowledge of metric system. Mechanically inclined. Fork Lift License.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to wet, humid, extreme cold, and extreme heat conditions. The employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes, vapors, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
The employee will be required to wear protective clothing, gloves, and/or hard hat as specified in the various processes and/or instructions. The employee will also be required to wear safety shoes and safety glasses.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
NOTE: This position could be a problem for someone with an acute allergy condition.
