    Job Description

    Summer 2025 Internship Program:

    • Time Commitment: 40 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.

    The Entertainment Group develops and schedules the network’s primetime, late-night, and daytime entertainment programming, including USA, SYFY, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, and Universal Kids. NBC’s quality programs and balanced line-up have earned the network critical acclaim, numerous awards and ratings success, including most recently winning the traditional September-to-May season in primetime’s key demo, marking the network’s third win in four years. NBC has earned more Emmy Awards than any network in television history.

    Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:

    • Audience Growth & Acquisition: Assist in ad hoc data requests from various stakeholders including product, editorial, and social, perform various analyses related to site traffic and content consumption, create dashboards and slide decks to summarize findings from relevant analyses

    • Brand Marketing- Bravo & Oxygen: Intern will support a highly dynamic marketing team in concepting, developing, and executing marketing campaigns for Bravo and Oxygen True Crime’s original series. This includes brand initiatives across both networks including experiential marketing programs, tentpole cultural events and activations, strategic partnerships, and E-commerce merchandising initiatives. The intern will also be responsible for monitoring cultural trends on both a macro and micro level and conducting competitive research to inform our marketing and promotional strategies. The ideal candidate will have a creative sensibility and strategic acumen, will be a highly organized self-starter while demonstrating thorough attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment

    • E! News Editorial & Social: Interns will work closely with the editorial team to understand what makes a strong news story and how to identify next beats, ideate and pitch stories, viral trends and celebrities that will help start a conversation, drive traffic and engagement, write and publish news content, ranging from trending news stories to evergreen galleries and SEO-driven articles, research visuals on Getty and Shutterstock, identify best options to download, photoshop and upload to our CMS, upload videos created by the digital news team and social team to social platforms, curate clever captions and adopt the E! News voice to deliver stories to our audience, act as a social producer and reporter for select red carpets and events, and more.

    • Entertainment Communications : Support communications efforts by maintaining and updating press lists, preparing for press junkets, monitoring press breaks and compiling clip packets, researching media outlets & contacts, and compiling coverage reports, draft tune-ins, assist with press releases and various writing assignments/research projects. Opportunities may be in scripted and/or unscripted communications

    • Entertainment Communications- Late Night : Our team oversees publicity for the late night shows and various specials programming across the NBCU portfolio. Our intern can expect to gain an in-depth understanding of publicity and insight into the numerous strategies the Entertainment PR team employs, and how they differ from show to show. Interns can also expect to gain a heightened ability to efficiently and effectively prioritize, organize, and communicate. They will receive exposure to any virtual press days/junkets, interviews, and events

    • NBC Marketing & Brand Strategy: The Marketing and Brand Strategy team communicates with all departments to build strategies and marketing campaigns for NBC Entertainment primetime and late-night programming, in addition to leading promotional activations. The marketing intern will support the brand team throughout these processes, partake in weekly trainings, attend meetings and assist in daily tasks to understand brand’s role throughout a show’s lifecycle

    • Oxygen Editorial & Digital: Oxygen Digital is one of the premier destinations for true crime fans, where our audience will get not only the latest content based on the Oxygen Network’s popular shows, but also independently produced and curated crime news and feature content, including news articles, videos and podcasts. The main tasks will revolve around researching and writing articles in support of Oxygen’s broadcast shows, as well as for the news team. There may be some website upkeep involved, editing various pages as needed

    • Social Media Marketing : Create fan social sentiment/conversation reports the night after priority episode airings, approve and identify content for NBC Entertainment-owned channels’ YouTube Community Tabs and YouTube Shorts, identify trends on TikTok and ideate ways for NBC to participate in trending conversations, attend weekly social team and show specific meetings, perform social media marketing and competitive research as needed, digital and social sales campaign tracking management

    • Syndication Studios Marketing : Creating promotional materials, assisting with digital accounts, acting as a liaison to local station affiliates across the country, and assisting on special event projects, deck building and copy editing, symphony support for both on-air and digital, photo gallery selections of daily shows, creative ideation and assisting with copy/video editing, analytics on original content and media campaigns collaborate with marketing team on new launch and promo ideas, assist with creative materials for sales and promotions

    Entertainment Decision Science opportunities include:

    • Broadcast Entertainment, Cable Entertainment & Sports Content Analytics: The internship will offer in-depth training on TV ratings and audience research, including involvement in various cross-platform projects, and ownership over various weekly and daily reporting. Work on ratings research across NBC entertainment programming and key Sports properties (e.g., Premier League, NASCAR, and PGA Tour); create custom reports, analyze linear and digital reporting and dashboards, share relevant insights with stakeholders; use multiple research platforms and dashboards including Nielsen and NBCU proprietary research tools. This role may include working out of our NBC Sports offices in Stamford, CT periodically, with reimbursable transit.
    • Syndication & Affiliate Relations: NBC Universal Syndication Studios produces and distributes such shows as Access Hollywood and The Kelly Clarkson Show, and the research department is responsible for informing producers and executives about their performance in the ratings and on streaming platforms. Interns will distill a large volume of data from a variety of sources, such as Nielsen ratings and digital metrics, into concise and actionable reports that will be used by program executives to help them track the performance of our shows in a highly competitive landscape, look at the ratings on a minute-by-minute basis to determine what segments, guests and topics worked best on our shows and regularly update and keep an eye on the digital performance of our shows on a variety of platforms including YouTube, AOL, Apple, and On Domain

    Basic Requirements:

    • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (June 2025 through August 2025). May 2025 graduates are not eligible for our Summer 2025 Internship Program.
    • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
    • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
    • Must be willing to work in New York, NY.

    For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
    • Previous public relations experience is a plus, but not required.
    • Familiarity with Muck Rack, Cision, and Google Alerts a plus, but not required.
    • Knowledge of TV Ratings, Nielsen, or data visualization tools like Tableau preferred.
    • Affinity for numbers & ability to digest large data sets - especially with ratings and viewership data.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
    • Experience or familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite a plus (Premiere, Photoshop).
    • Familiarity with HTML & Web technologies.
    • Ability to write clean copy quickly and efficiently.
    • Experience creating content for various social media platforms.
    • Ability to multitask, highly organized, and strong attention to detail.

    The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $17.50.

    The hourly rate for Decision Sciences undergraduate student interns is $30.00.

    The hourly rate for Decision Sciences graduate student interns is $35.00.
