• Identify characteristics of a good ECG signal.
• Identifies "yellow" and "red" star alarms.
• Identify audible and visual alarm indicators.
• Silence an alarms.
• Adjust arrhythmia alarms.
• View, record, print, and delete alarms in Alarm Review.
• Record and analyze patient's ECG strip Q4 hrs and with any significant changes is rate or rhythm.
• Documents Rhythm, Rate, PR Interval, QRS/QT, Ectopy or Artifact, sends analysis of strips to floor Q4 hrs.
• Telephones the Charge Nurse with a general report Q4 hrs.
• Documents report at the top of page before EKG tracing are sent to floor.
• Assists in modification of plan based on pt's response.
• Provides health care at the best value without compromising pt care.
• Measures and records VS, appropriately including Ht. and Wt.
• Obtains 12- lead EKG.
Required Skills
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
• High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
• Successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia Class and Competency/Skills Checklist.
