In this role, you’ll handle a diverse and engaging portfolio, including individual, corporate, trust, and non-profit tax returns. You'll also supervise financial statement preparation and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review individual, S Corporation, C Corporation, Partnership, LLC, non-profit, gift, trust, Canadian, FBAR, general excise/use, and personal property tax returns for high-net-worth clients.
- Work closely with various departments on tax planning, including quarterly estimates and year-end projections.
- Research athletes’ schedules for duty day calculations and amend tax returns for new clients to optimize tax benefits.
- Act as Power of Attorney during IRS audits, prepare supporting documentation, and liaise with government agencies to secure timely tax refunds.
- Serve as bookkeeper/controller for client entities, prepare journal entries, and ensure the accuracy of general ledgers and financial statements.
- Organize and lead independent audits for non-profit foundations, ensuring compliance with GAAP and transitioning financials from cash-basis to accrual-basis.
- Provide expert advice, stay abreast of industry trends, and communicate solutions proactively to clients and team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CPA certification or CPA candidate status required. Preference given to candidates who have already received their CPA certification.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in tax, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of current tax laws, especially related to high-net-worth individuals and professional athletes.
- Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with high-profile clients and their advisors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and specialized tax/accounting software, including GoSystem Tax RS, SurePrep, and Bloomberg Tax.
- Strong critical-thinking abilities, with experience in managing complex projects and meeting tight deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high level of integrity in all professional practices.
