Books Acquisition Editor, Education Publishing
Job Description
Routledge, a leading international academic publisher, part of Taylor & Francis Group, has an exciting opportunity for an Acquisitions Editor to join our Education Books team based in the US, responsible for managing and expanding a book list of textbooks, scholarly books, and professional books for pre-service and in-service educators, academics, and scholars with a largely North America-focused remit. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a highly collaborative global team on cutting-edge research, theory, and practice at the forefront of the discipline.
The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning a range of text-types in Education. We are particularly looking for someone who can grow their subject areas, working to meet demanding signings and manuscript handover targets, as well as exploring and commissioning Open Access publishing opportunities for the list.
The editor should have a minimum of 1 to 2 years book commissioning experience in publishing, a strong commercial awareness, excellent networking skills, and a collegiate attitude towards the sharing of projects and ideas. The ability to deliver revenue growth as well as increase the book offerings in their subject areas is essential.
The role will involve close liaison with editorial colleagues on the Education team, series editors and book authors, external associations, and journals, marketing, production, and sales colleagues. The position will involve virtual conference attendance in the United States, as well as some in-person travel in the United States when public health conditions permit.
This position can be based in either our New York City (US), Philadelphia (US), and Boca Raton (US) offices, or based remotely from the US.
