Providence Staffing is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant, Special Assignment, to provide support to students with disabilities in an educational setting in Brevard County, FL. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers to assist in meeting the unique educational and personal needs of students, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment. This is temp-to-perm position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teachers to provide effective support to students with disabilities in classroom activities and learning.
- Assist in implementing modifications and accommodations as directed by the teacher to meet students' individual educational plans (IEPs).
- Support students with personal needs, including mobility, transportation, and other daily tasks, as required.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Monitor and assist students during classroom activities, ensuring safety and well-being.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents to support students’ educational goals.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive student information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the educational and personal development of students with disabilities.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work effectively with children and collaborate with teachers in an educational setting.
- Willingness to learn and understand the unique needs of students with disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with students, teachers, and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting students with disabilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities or in a special education setting.
- Familiarity with classroom modifications and accommodations.
- Basic understanding of educational plans and individualized support strategies.
Physical Requirements:
- Heavy Work:
- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Must be physically able to assist students with mobility and other personal needs as required.
Work Environment:
- School-based setting that requires flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
- Active and dynamic environment involving interaction with students, teachers, and staff.
