  • Responsibilities

    Reports To:

    Special Education Director and/or Assistant Special Education Director

    Qualifications:

    • Valid teacher’s license/ Master’s Degree or BS + 30 with a minimum of 10 years of experience in teaching Reading and/or Math.

    Purpose Statement:

    The Special Education Instructional Coach will work closely with the Special Education Department and the schools to assist in providing the support needed for Special Education teachers and students.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Perform standardized achievement evaluations on students for initial or re-evaluation
    • Train teachers in Reading and/or Math Programs
    • Disaggregate data, such as Aimsweb
    • Prepare written reports of assessment results
    • Provide feedback to teachers concerning assessments
    • Assist with interpretation of evaluation results upon request
    • Participate with RTI team at Tier 3 if necessary
    • Assist with Fidelity Checks
    • Collaborate with teachers
    • Participate in IEP meetings if necessary
    • Serve as a team member for Functional Behavior Assessments
    • Maintain logs of evaluations and submits them to Central Office
    • Assist with special education teachers with scheduling meetings and programming needs
    • Monitor Equipment Inventories
    • Provide Direct Services to teachers and students
    • Attend state workshops and trainings to stay abreast of new assessments and regulations
    • Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession and to the established rules, regulations, and laws governing special education programs.
    • Participate in Assistive Technology Assessments, Observations, and Results
    • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Special Education/Director of Schools
    • Prepare and adapt instructional materials.
    • Support General Ed Teachers
    • Develop IEPs for some individual students
    • Develop curricula and effective teaching methods, differentiated instruction
    • Monitor student activities in school and other activities
    • Communicate with principals of the school
    • Assist in the interpretation of End of year test scores
    • Provide specific training for teachers and staff
    • Participate in staff development
    • Perform other related work as assigned by the Director of Special Education or Assistant Director of Special Education

    Capacity and Ability Requirements:

    The usual job demands requires the following physical requirements: some lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, some stooping, kneeling, and physical dexterity.

    Terms of Employment:

    Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

    Evaluation:

    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
