We seek candidates who will bring to the position enthusiasm for the teaching of literature and writing, a commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive learning environment for all students in the classroom, and willingness to teach multiple courses within the curriculum. The department values the study of literature through close reading, and we have a strong writing program that seeks to develop students’ critical writing skills, as well as their own voices as writers. Candidates with literature and/or creative writing backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be interested in teaching a variety of courses from the department’s core offerings as well as developing compelling semester-long seminars in areas of their own interest. We seek candidates who will support the department's ongoing work to diversify and expand our curricular offerings.

As a residential school, Middlesex considers the work of faculty more broadly. When we are at our best, we are engaging with our students both in and out of the classroom. Applicants should be deeply committed to embracing and supporting the diversity of our student body and the full student experience. Faculty members at Middlesex can expect to be responsible for weekly evening and occasional weekend supervisory duties. They will also be responsible for contributing to the life of the school through athletics and extracurricular activities. Competitive salary and benefits, including a strong professional development program, will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Middlesex School is committed to bringing together a diverse faculty, staff, and student body. We encourage candidates who represent the broad, diverse community to which we aspire.

Middlesex School is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to an inclusive school experience for all.
