We seek candidates who exhibit excellence in the classroom and who demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching history and developing students’ critical thinking, writing, and reading skills. The History Department is committed to fostering an equitable and inclusive learning environment for all students and encourages students to encounter the unfamiliar through exposure to new content and to ideas that may challenge previous ways of thinking. We particularly value teachers who inspire in students rigorous curiosity and a desire to deepen their understanding so that they may become engaged citizens of the twenty-first-century world. Our teachers teach across our spectrum of History courses; versatility and openness to teaching assignments is key. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the field of American History.
