    Position Overview: The Southeast Iowa Sports Center is seeking a dependable, leadership-driven, and detail-oriented Manager to oversee operations during evening and weekend shifts. This position will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the facility, managing staff, and providing exceptional customer service to our guests. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple responsibilities, and the flexibility to address any challenges that arise during the evening hours.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Facility Oversight: Supervise the daily operations of the sports center during working hours, ensuring that all areas (including courts, fields, and common spaces) are clean, well-maintained, and ready for use.

    Staff Supervision: Manage and direct night shift staff, including front desk personnel, custodians, and event staff. Provide guidance, delegate tasks, and ensure staff are performing duties effectively.

    Customer Service: Address customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and ensure that guests have a positive experience. Assist with check-ins, event registrations, and general facility information as needed.

    Event Coordination: Oversee and support events, leagues, and activities, ensuring they run smoothly. Coordinate with coaches, referees, teams, and participants to address any last-minute issues or changes.

    Security & Safety: Monitor the safety and security of the facility, ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed. Perform regular walk-throughs of the facility to check for any hazards or maintenance needs.

    Cash Handling & Financial Oversight: Oversee cash transactions during evening shifts, including ticket sales, merchandise purchases, and memberships. Ensure that the cash register balances at the end of the shift and handle deposits as needed.

    Conflict Resolution: Handle any issues or disputes that may arise during the night shift, including customer complaints, staff concerns, or emergency situations. Act as the point of escalation for any operational issues.

    Facility Maintenance: Ensure that cleaning and maintenance tasks are completed during the evening shift. Make sure that areas are restocked with supplies (toiletries, cleaning materials, etc.) and equipment is in working order.

    Communication: Maintain clear communication with the General Manager & Director of Operations, as well as day shift staff regarding any ongoing issues or updates. Prepare and submit shift reports, including incident reports, customer feedback, and any maintenance concerns.

    Other Duties: Assist with setting up or breaking down events, ensuring all equipment is properly stored or put away. Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent preferred; a college degree or prior experience in sports facility management or operations is preferred.

    CPR & FirstAid Training, or willing to obtain certification.

    Previous supervisory or management experience in a customer service or sports environment is highly desirable.

    Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Basic proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems, Microsoft Office, and other basic office software.

    Ability to work independently and demonstrate leadership qualities.

    Ability to handle difficult situations professionally and with a calm demeanor.

    Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    Physical Requirements:

    Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods of time.

    Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

    Ability to perform light maintenance or janitorial tasks as necessary.

    Ability to respond quickly in case of an emergency or safety concern.
