Arch Environmental Group, Inc. (AEG) is seeking an outgoing and hard-working team-oriented manager to lead our group of environmental professionals on the safeEARTH Team; the team that is responsible for hazardous waste management, emergency spill response, lab packs, industrial cleaning, and waste consulting services. The primary internal responsibility of the position will be managing the safeEARTH team members. The managing activities will include four key components – performance management and training activities for all direct reports, monitoring and providing guidance on the Team’s financial performance, team member coordination and project scheduling, and Manager Level meetings with the Executive Management Team. The manager will also provide technical and project support where necessary based on knowledge and experience.
Key Management Responsibilities: • Lead, mentor, and support the Team with the goal of maximizing performance and efficiency • Oversee and coordinate ongoing professional development for team members • Conduct performance reviews and additional one-on-one professional development sessions as needed based on team member objectives and performance • Align team member goals to company objectives • Draft, revise and present proposals for team and company-wide work • Development and administration of waste services contracts • Continual monitoring of project schedules and resource allocation to ensure timely and effective project completion • Delegate project tasks based on team members' individual strengths, skill sets, and experience levels • Conduct on-going Client Services activities, which may include tasks related to sales, marketing, new client development, long-term relationship development with key clients, and client satisfaction monitoring • Administrative review of documentation produced by team members to ensure compliance • Support team members with site strategy, health and safety performance, and client interaction • Actively participate in Management Team discussions on company direction, provide team status reviews, and assist with implementation of company initiatives • Staffing determinations • Interviewing and hiring recommendations and coordination of new hires • Salary/wage recommendations
Key Project Responsibilities: • Complete projects in a safe, compliant, and timely manner • Complete projects and/or project components as needed due to personal knowledge and competencies
Experience, Academic Requirements, Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in environmental or science-related discipline and 10+ years of relative project and leadership experience. • Advanced knowledge and experience with federal, state, and local hazardous materials and hazardous waste laws, regulations, and permitting requirements. • Working knowledge and experience with DOT regulations and rules preferred. • Experience in providing leadership to people with diverse backgrounds and experiences on high-pressure, high-visibility projects. • Advanced knowledge of hazardous waste, liquid industrial waste, and universal waste management industry is a must. • Advanced knowledge of US Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR). • Advanced knowledge of environmental sampling and sample handling techniques and requirements. • Hazardous waste sampling, identification, classification, and characterization. • Hazardous waste packaging, marking, and labeling. • Chemical lab-packing proficient. • Preparation of thorough project-specific health and safety plans. • Preparation of compliant hazardous waste shipping documents. • Appropriate selection and use of personal protective equipment. • Proper load segregation, securing and vehicle placarding. • Competent use of environmental testing instrumentation. • Safe operation of general and specialized industrial tools and equipment. • Hazard recognition and proper response to hazardous materials incidents and releases. • Advanced computer skills with MS Office software, including Word and Excel.
Possession of any of the following certifications and accreditations preferred: o Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) o OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training completed and up to date o EPA RCRA Hazardous Waste Generator training (40 CFR Parts 262 & 265) o DOT Hazardous Materials training (49 CFR Part 172) o Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) on.
Position Conditions: • This is a full-time, exempt position. • This position is performed in primarily in an office environment with flexible work hours based on project and client needs, but with anticipated typical work hours of Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. • This position allows for some remote work opportunities. • Up to 25% of time may be performed in the field in varying environmental conditions. • This position is also required to have weekend “on-call” commitments two weekends per month. • Candidate must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. • Candidate must pass a medical surveillance that includes drug screening, hazmat physical, and respiratory function testing to operate in respirator-controlled environments. • Personal vehicle use for travel to/from project sites is expected for first 90 days; thereafter a company vehicle will be provided.
