    How You Will Contribute

    As the Payroll & Benefits Specialist at Pulsara, you'll play a vital role in ensuring a seamless payroll and benefits experience for our team. This part-time (25 hours a week to start), fully remote role is more than just processing numbers—it's about leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and the overall team member experience.

    You'll manage payroll through a third-party vendor, oversee benefits administration, maintain accurate digital HR records, and support onboarding and offboarding processes—all while using tech-driven solutions to streamline workflows and improve team member support.

You'll work closely with the Director of People & Culture on impactful projects, contributing to a multi-state, fully remote team. Your attention to detail, tech expertise, and adaptability will help us scale processes, ensure compliance, and create a better, smoother experience for every team member.

    Responsibilities Include:

    Payroll & Compliance Excellence:

    • Process semi-monthly payroll via our third-party HRMS.
    • Troubleshoot state UI and withholding issues and support new state setups as we expand.
    • Maintain compliance with workplace postings requirements across multiple states.
    • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing—because no one wants to worry about their paycheck.

    Benefits Administration & Support:

    • Guide team members through enrollment, life-change events, and benefits questions.
    • Manage the annual Open Enrollment process, working closely with brokers on renewals and overseeing plan changes.
    • Conduct Open Enrollment meetings to communicate benefits updates and assist team members with their selections.
    • Oversee 401(k) Plan Administration, including compliance, team member support, and vendor coordination.
    • Maintain compliance with DOL, HIPAA, and ePHI regulations.

    ⚙Technology & Process Optimization:

    • Use Google Sheets for data analysis, payroll reports, and benefits tracking (pivot tables and formulas are your best friends).
    • Create Google Slides presentations to help explain payroll and benefits concepts to team members.
    • Find opportunities to automate and streamline repetitive tasks, making workflows more efficient.

    Data Accuracy & Digital Record-Keeping:

    • Maintain HRMS and payroll records with 100% digital file management—no paper, no clutter.
    • Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance.
    • Keep policies, procedures, and documentation organized, up-to-date, and accessible.

    Onboarding & Offboarding Support:

    • Ensure new hires have seamless payroll and benefits onboarding.
    • Support team members exiting the company with compassion and efficiency.

    People & Culture Advocate:

    • Be the go-to resource for team members' payroll and benefits inquiries.
    • Deliver solutions with kindness, accuracy, and a service-oriented mindset.

    Who Would Thrive in This Role:

    We welcome candidates who possess a combination of education and/or work experience, with a strong emphasis on the following qualifications and traits:

    **Education & Experience: **Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent 3+ years of hands-on payroll & benefits experience.

    HR Experience: Prior exposure to HR processes and compliance is a plus.

    Remote Work Experience: You're comfortable working in a digital-first, fully remote environment.

    HIT/Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with DOL, IRS, HIPAA, and payroll tax regulations.

    Tech-Savvy & Adaptable: Demonstrated expertise in business technology, with the ability to quickly master new applications. Proficient in HRMS systems, payroll platforms, and office productivity tools like Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides.
