    **Position Summary
    ** The Technical Editor/Writer is an experienced professional in scientific technical editing and writing. This role involves developing and editing comprehensive reports, proposals, and studies for both technical and general audiences. The Technical Editor/Writer reviews content for structure, inconsistencies, and technical and grammatical accuracy. This position requires collaboration with Eden's Technical Team and Country Teams to produce accurate and professional technical documents and reports, while maintaining the organization’s brand image and Ethos. Experience with nature based carbon solutions, forestry, project design documents, and grant writing is a plus.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Edit technical documents, reports, and related materials for carbon and landscape restoration project development. ****
    • Write sections of reports based on research or notes from other team members.
    • Produce high-quality technical documentation suitable for its intended audience to support Eden’s objectives.
    • Collaborate with Eden Country and Technical Team to understand materials, processes, and documentation needs.
    • Interview experts, review journals, and ensure technical accuracy in carbon and landscape restoration projects.
    • Edit, standardize, and incorporate content prepared by team members; conduct research, review sources, and verify accuracy.
    • Revise and summarize technical content for target audiences, such as creating project summaries or concept notes from longer documents. Write and edit operational procedures and training manuals.
    • Gather information from Technical Team meetings for reports.
    • Oversee document finalization, including routing documents for team member review, incorporating feedback.
    • Select and caption photographs, tables, drawings, sketches, diagrams, maps, and charts to illustrate key information; lay out material for publication and distribution in print and electronic formats.
    • Publish final copies for clients and partners by assigned deadlines.
    • Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    **Education + Work Experience
    **

    • ****Bachelor's Degree in English, communications, journalism or a related field.
    • Minimum 2 years of related experience, preferably in technical editing within the environmental sector.
    • Experience coordinating review cycles with technical experts and teams.
    • Experience with nature-based carbon solutions, forestry, project design documents, and grant writing is a plus.

    • Extensive organizational and project coordination expertise, along with superior time management skills and the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks, particularly in a dispersed, asynchronous working environment.
    • In-depth knowledge of the English language (native language, preferred), including vocabulary, spelling, composition rules, and grammar.
    • Command of other languages such as French, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, or Malagasy in a technical context is advantageous, but not required.
    • Ability to read, comprehend and manage highly technical information and interpret complex technical content to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
    • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with an understanding of the implications of new information for both current and future decision-making.
    • Self-motivated and capable of managing work based on multiple inputs and desired outputs, demonstrating the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office / SharePoint and experience leveraging digital project management software (e.g. Smartsheet, Basecamp, Jira), along with experience and expertise in using desktop publishing software (e.g. Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Publisher, PTC Arbortext).
    • Clear understanding of global carbon and landscape development work and the value of carbon projects.

    Work Environment + Physical Requirements

    • Requires a commitment to work in a global asynchronous team with atypical hours.
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read technical information.
    • Position may require occasional air travel and participation in extended meetings, conferences and training in the US or at international events.
    • Extended or irregular work hours may be required during project launches and expansions.
    • Legal authorization to live and work in the country of residence.
