Job Title: Manufacturing Automation Engineer

Job Summary:
As a Manufacturing Automation Engineer, you will lead the development of lean manufacturing solutions that transform production processes and reduce waste. Your role is essential in designing optimal floor layouts, maximizing the use of materials, equipment, and labor, and implementing data-driven enhancements to improve productivity and product quality.

- Make Your Mark: Impact high-visibility projects, from feasibility studies to plant layouts, material flow designs, and equipment optimization plans.
Essential Job Functions:
- Conceive, develop, and execute automation projects to enhance quality, increase yields, and reduce operating costs and downtime.
- Manage the integration of robotics, EOAT, cameras, sensors, and related automation technologies with Blow Fill Seal machines and assembly/labeling processes.
- Introduce and implement innovative technologies to support production and processing engineers' in-house needs.
- Source, evaluate, qualify, test, install, and troubleshoot purchased equipment.
- Modify or integrate existing equipment to improve processes aligned with business needs.
- Troubleshoot issues with processes and hardware, including pneumatics, electrical systems, PLC logic, vision cameras, barcode scanners, robotics, servo axes, and networking/databases.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve complex problems and implement effective solutions.
- Create high-quality work instructions and provide technical support to Manufacturing, QA, Purchasing, and Warehouse teams, including validation and calibration support.
- Support production trials to ensure project timelines are met.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting innovative ideas and solutions.
- Be an active listener, open to new ideas and innovations from all sources.
- Collaborate effectively with teams and work independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of automation experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within plastics.
- Background in Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics, or Industrial Engineering; a Bachelor’s degree in any of these disciplines is preferred.
- Knowledge of plastics, medical device, or pharmaceutical processing, with an understanding of cGMP and FDA requirements for manufacturing.
- Experience with aseptic filling of pharmaceutical products or Blow-Fill-Seal processes is a plus.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (S5 and S7 logic) and familiarity with vision systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of FMEA, DOE, and Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma tools is a plus.
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of associates internally and externally.
- Committed to safety and security, adhering to procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Physical demands may include sitting, standing, walking, crouching, using tools, and lifting up to 15 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
