    Job Description

    We currently seek a customer-focused Technical Program Manager who is a results-oriented leader and has demonstrable success managing high-tech product developments and working with other high-tech professionals to meet challenging technical goals. Our projects range in complexity and often involve all engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering. The primary focus of this project management role is defense technology research and development , and technical fluency in system-level engineering will be required.

    You will demonstrate strong technical skills alongside the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously. In addition to your TPM responsibilities, this role requires direct involvement in preparing, reviewing, and overseeing activities like developing specifications, concept development, engineering and design input, design reviews, and build/test feedback. You'll also take on team leadership, manage project scheduling, scope, and budget, and contribute your technical expertise to business development, proposal writing, and grant submissions.

    This role is restricted to US persons (i.e., US citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 USC 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Boston Engineering will require proof of status prior to employment.

    To excel in this role, you should have proven expertise in the following areas:

    • Knowledge of the design and architecture of robotics, uncrewed systems, maritime systems, and related fields.
    • Experience in defining and managing scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables for multi-disciplinary projects.
    • Proficiency in interfacing with government-based clients.
    • Ability to efficiently manage multiple project teams in a fast-paced environment.
    • Experience in leading projects through a Phase-Gate or similar structured development process.
    • Strong capability to conduct and oversee critical project reviews, identify risks, and develop risk mitigation strategies, including presenting and interacting with customers.
    • A track record of identifying opportunities and successfully writing proposals for both customers and government grants, with ongoing interest in this area.

    To be successful in this role, you will possess the following skills:

    • Systems-level engineering experience across multiple disciplines.
    • Proficiency with common project management and engineering development tools.
    • Proven ability to thrive in a technically challenging and customer-focused environment.
    • Exceptional management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering field, Master's preferred.
    • At least eight (8) years of combined experience in systems engineering or technical project management.
    • Expertise in robotics, unmanned systems, and military systems.
    • Working knowledge of electrical, software, and mechanical design and processes.
    • Strong systems-level engineering capabilities with knowledge of software, electrical, and mechanical tools and processes.
    • Proficiency in developing and reviewing requirements, specifications, and design documents, and conducting projects under design controls.
    • Experience executing government projects and familiarity with FARs, DFARs, and other government contracting principles.
    • Project management training (PMP or similar coursework) is highly preferred.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and customer interface skills.
    • Familiarity with resource tracking and estimation.
    • Ability to anticipate risks and assess technical progress towards team success.
    • Proven experience in new product development programs, particularly bringing innovative technologies to market.
    • Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams.
    • Prior experience in drafting federal proposals (preferably SBIR, STTR).
    • Familiarity with military standards and requirements.
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards.
    • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, and MS Visio.

    Location : Office-based role in Waltham, Massachusetts

    Reports to: Vice President, Program Management Office

    Salary Range : The final salary offer will be based on individual education, skills, and experience.
