Position Overview: As an Electrical Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and growing an established customer base while actively developing new business opportunities. This role requires someone with a strong technical foundation, confident sales skills, and a collaborative spirit.
This position is responsible for supporting sales growth of custom electrical power distribution products (switchboard, switchgear, panel boards) through the vetting of quotation opportunities, costing of projects and preparation of customer proposals. Products are primarily engineered to order.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and maintain relationships with existing customers, understanding their needs and ensuring satisfaction.
Proactively seek and develop new business opportunities in the electrical power distribution and power generation control sector.
Close sales effectively, achieving and exceeding set sales targets.
Collaborate closely with internal teams to provide tailored solutions to clients.
Clearly communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Create cost sheet including material list gathered from evaluation of specifications drawings and customer-supplied information, labor hours from manufacturing management input/historical data, and company margin expectations.
Prepare detailed bill of material (BOM) that, with engineering input when needed, accurately captures the products and services to be provided to the customer and notes qualifications/exceptions, both technical and commercial.
Sales Support, support customers and company manufacturing management.
· Evaluation of risk, profitability, and cash flow potential, defining scope of supply and coordinating project schedule in conjunction with the manufacturing team.
· Interface with Engineering to ensure proper scope definition and costing.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with 3+ years related experience
Proven experience in technical sales, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
Basic knowledge of Electrical/Mechanical principles important.
Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of customers, team members and suppliers.
Ability to work independently and manage time to accomplish sometimes conflicting goals.
Results driven, not task driven, with an eager sense to meet customers’ deadlines.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence decision-makers, and close sales.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated and results-oriented with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Proficient with standard MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), including smartphone applications (Outlook, Text, Voice).
Bilingual in Spanish a plus
