Backstage:
We are looking for a Technical Theater Instructor who can develop and teach a technical theater program that is appropriate for high school newcomers, providing both theoretical and practical training. The responsibilities of this position include proficiently coordinating, strategizing, and executing the program, encompassing various aspects such as lighting, sound, set construction, projections, rigging, and management of the stage crew.
Ability to:
Adapt plans and instructional delivery to meet the differentiated needs of students.
Work independently with little direction.
Create an instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
Meet schedules and timelines.
Monitor students in theater, stage, work areas, classrooms, and on school grounds.
Maintain professional and positive relationships with students, colleagues, and administration.
Operate a computer as well as job-related equipment that includes: carpentry tools and equipment for staging and lighting.
Cooperatively pursue alternative solutions to mitigate student learning problems and to enhance expanded academic, social, and emotional growth opportunities.
Maintain appropriate standards of student behavior, using behavioral management strategies and techniques, including positive reinforcement and behavior-shaping procedures.
Plan, develop, organize, and implement lessons of engaging activities to motivate students and effectively utilize the time available for instructional activities that are appropriate to the instructional level of students.
Emphasize ‘hands-on’ instruction and incorporate a variety of methodologies in teaching and instructing students, including (but not limited to) lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and off-site experiences.
