    Job Description

    Brightspeed is searching for a Technical Trainer to join our team! As a Technical Trainer, you will be responsible for improving the productivity of the organization’s employees through formal and informal training and learning programs. This position is responsible for the effective coordination and presentation of training and learning programs specific to Brightspeed Operations employees (i.e., Field Technicians, Engineers, NOC, Service Assurance, and people managers). Although this is the primary focus, this individual may assist with other training as needed. The final candidate can be based anywhere in the Brightspeed footprint; however, there will be travel required to lead the hands-on classes. This role could require up to 80% travel depending on business demands and candidates’ proximity to the class location.

    As Technical Trainer, your responsibilities will include:

    • Limited supervision, conducts a variety of training programs supporting processes, products, systems, and/or methodologies that drive corporate results
    • Demonstrating the following effective facilitation skills: advanced preparation, clear communication, active listening, teaching through questions, and creating a safe learning environment
    • Updating training materials as needed based on changing business processes
    • Creating and/or designing training material based on need and outcome
    • Strong emphasis on Safety, PPE, and customer service
    • Ability to explain and instruct company policies and best practices based on experience
    • Performing on the job training support activities through experiential learning
    • Ability to learn new content quickly, viewed as a credible expert in class material
    • Demonstrating Professionalism and Leadership – own commitments, be inclusive, grow yourself, others, and the business
    • Building trust with strategic internal customers/partners to establish ongoing effectiveness and efficiency of training events
    • Recording formal learning in the Brightspeed LMS
  • Qualifications

    WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

    • Background in facilitating technical information to adult learners
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education or relevant experience
    • 4+ years of related experience
    • Ability to properly demonstrate ladder climbing/placement on pole and strand, carrying ladder, and inspecting ladder (24ft and 28ft extension ladder) as needed
    • Experience conducting training in the following capacities: one-on-one, classroom or virtual learning utilizing conferencing tools and forums
    • Understanding of reading light levels on fiber optic networks
    • Knowledge of copper/fiber communications path
    • Ability to travel to lead the hands-on portion of training. Travel may occur outside of normal working hours, including weekends
