    Job Title: Technical Writer

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to join our team at New Way Trucks, a leader in the refuse truck manufacturing industry. This role involves creating, updating, and managing technical documentation to support our products, processes, and customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of technical concepts, excellent writing skills, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, user-friendly materials.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Develop and Maintain Documentation:

    Create user manuals, service guides, assembly instructions, and training materials for refuse truck systems and components

    Ensure documents are accurate, well-structured, and tailored to the target audience (e.g., operators, maintenance personnel, engineers).

    Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:

    Work closely with engineers, product managers, and manufacturing staff to gather technical information.

    Review technical specifications, CAD drawings, and schematics to ensure documentation aligns with product designs.

    Standardize Communication:

    Develop templates, style guides, and standardized formats for documentation.

    Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

    Visual Content Creation:

    Collaborate with graphic designers or use design tools to integrate diagrams, charts, and other visuals into documents.

    Take photos or create illustrations for step-by-step guides.

    Document Control and Updates:

    Maintain version control of all documents and update materials based on design changes, feedback, or new product releases.

    Manage digital and physical repositories for technical documentation.

    Support Training and Product Launches:

    Assist in the creation of training content and presentations for internal teams and customers.

    Participate in product launch activities to ensure the availability of user-friendly technical resources.

    Qualifications:

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.

    Experience:

    2+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in manufacturing, automotive, or heavy equipment industries.

    Skills:

    Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

    Ability to interpret technical concepts and communicate them clearly to non-technical audiences.

    Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, MS Office, FrameMaker) and familiarity with CAD software or 3D modeling tools is a plus.

    Strong organizational and project management abilities.

    Knowledge:

    Familiarity with mechanical systems, hydraulics, or electrical components is highly desirable.

    Understanding of safety standards, industry regulations, and quality systems.

    Work Environment:

    Office setting with occasional visits to manufacturing floors or field operations to observe products and processes.
