    Job Description

    The Technical Writing internship at Miller Electric is designed to give a student the hands-on exposure to the tools and processes of this profession.

    Essential Functions

    • Create and update owner's manuals and other technical documentation
    • Work with engineers and subject matter experts to understand a product or procedure
    • Optimize documents for print and electronic publication
    • Create and modify technical illustrations
    • Prepare markups for translation and participate in a translation project with our vendor
    • Manage document data for upload and reuse to serve our internal and external customers
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Technical or Professional Writing, English, or a related field
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; be prepared to supply a writing sample
    • Proficient in a Windows and Microsoft environment
    • Familiarity with desktop publishing, structured authoring (XML), and technical illustration software preferred
    • Able to work independently, prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and be proactive in suggesting process improvements
    • Familiarity with welding and basic electricity preferred, but not required
