    Summit Technical Solutions (STS) is seeking a Senior level Telecommunications Technician for a new opportunity in Colorado Springs, CO. The selected candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining telecommunications capabilities for the CIMS III program. Position responsibilities encompass all technical aspects of CIMS III communications, including PBX administration, installation, configuration and maintenance of analog and digital phone lines. Must have experience maintaining voice mail and conference bridge services, communications wiring infrastructure, and wireless devices with data capabilities.

    Essential Functions:

    • Perform a variety of technical assignments on data communications equipment and systems.
    • Complete terminal troubleshooting using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
    • Install terminals, controllers, and test equipment and restore nonworking lines and/or equipment to working condition.
    • Maintain liaison with outside vendors and orders circuits and/or equipment as required.
    • Requires knowledge of specific modems, test equipment, and terminal configuration.
    • May develop recommendations for the combined usage of data processing and telephone system hardware and software.

    Qualified candidates will have the following experience and qualifications:

    • Associates degree +8 years of related experience OR Bachelors degree +5 years of related experience
    • Network+ CE or equivalent IAT Level I certification, Level II Certification preferred
    • Current Secret clearance

    The following skills are a plus:

    • working knowledge of IP addressing and subnet masks.
    • working understanding of Voice over IP Systems.
    • experience overseeing work performed by vendor and subcontractor personnel.
    • understanding of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting VTC systems.

    Starting pay for this position is negotiable starting at $63K

    Required Skills

    Job duties may include but are not limited to:

    • Must be process driven and be able to monitor telecommunications systems, identify problems and take corrective action without direction from supervisors.
    • Must keep the customer and supervisors informed of the status of systems, planned and unplanned outages, and status of repair efforts.
    • Must perform telecommunications circuit installation and configuration.
    • Must have a thorough understanding of copper and fiber cable plants and distribution systems.
    • Must be able to terminate fiber optic cables.
    • Must be able to terminate Category 6 patch cable
    • Must be able to use the appropriate test equipment to troubleshoot fiber optic and copper network problems.
    • Must be able to perform add, move changes for desktop phones.
    • Must be able to perform add, move, changes on PBX systems
    • Must be able to perform CSU/DSU installation and configuration.
    • Must be able to troubleshoot lease-line problems and work with telecommunications providers to quickly resolve circuit outages.
    • Maintain a process for requesting telecommunications services or report issues.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot the phone and voicemail systems (PBX) in use on the program.
    • Provide end user support for mobile (wireless) and stationary telecommunications equipment.
    • Review, test, and suggest new telecommunication services to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
    • Maintain multi-media interface floor boxes.
    • Maintain voice mail and conference bridge services.
    • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently.
