Within TWC, the Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) Division works in partnership with Texans who are blind, visually impaired, and/or multi-disabled by assisting them in obtaining information needed to make informed choices, and by providing access to services that increase opportunities to live as they choose. To support our mission, we are seeking to fill a Rehabilitation Assistant (RA) I-III position in the Northeast Texas Management Unit 4-1 Field Office which is located at 1513 Houston Street, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482.
The Rehabilitation Assistant I-III assists the assigned VR Counselor in providing services to customers to achieve successful employment outcomes. The Rehabilitation Assistant I-III provides basic information regarding VR programs, services, and referral information to customers and vendors.
The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and have excellent planning, organizing, time management, and communication skills with the ability to prioritize and coordinate work in an independent manner to achieve goals.
GENERAL DUTIES:
-Performs entry level to moderately complex human services and rehabilitation support work
-Performs routine caseload support service such as creating, maintaining, and reviewing technical case management forms and files for accuracy utilizing the electronic case management system
-Collects information for intake/profile process
-Maintains appropriate business relationships with providers, businesses, customers and staff
-Prepares and reviews reports for accuracy on monitored services
-Provides casework services and assistance to the VR Counselor in certification of eligibility
-Provides service delivery tasks and utilize the electronic case management system and other agency supported software programs
-Provide initial screening for individuals applying for VRS service programs
-Participates in Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) training
-Furnishes information regarding Texas Workforce Solutions/Vocational Rehabilitation Services (TWS/VRS) Program, services and requirements to applicants, customers, families, vendors, businesses and the general public
-May train others
-Performs other related work as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Eighteen (18) months experience in office practices and office support work utilizing a personal computer in a Windows' based environment
-Experience in applying purchasing procedures
-Knowledge of community and government service delivery systems
-Experience in case guidelines, regulations and policies
-Experience with case management support functions
-Knowledge of mental illness and emotional components of physical illness
-Ability to interpret highly complex policies and procedures
-Ability to maintain confidentiality
-Ability to analyze and interpret highly complex financial data
-Skill in interviewing and in conducting individual needs assessments
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
RA I- One year of full time qualifying experience in social services, client services, such as psychology, rehabilitation, and related social services work and graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
RA II- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework plus one year and six months of full time qualifying experience in human services, social science, business, or a related field. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
RA III- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework plus two years of full time qualifying experience in human services, social science, business, or a related field. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
Position may involve working hours other than 8 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday and involves travel 10% of the time, including some overnight travel (Method of transportation is the responsibility of employee).
This is a career ladder position. Therefore, the salary range for this position is $2,556.00-$3,865.67 per month, depending on qualifications.
