Reporting to the position of Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, Paralegal will be responsible for the immigration services program; maintenance and coordination of records; and litigation related activities. This role will also assist attorneys and risk manager with projects on an as needed basis.
- Maintenance of the immigration, litigation and corporate records
- Oversight of College immigration services, including direct assistance with students, faculty and staff who are foreign nationals
- Research, as needed, with the assistance of Westlaw services
- Drafting a wide range of legal documents including resolutions, minutes and correspondence
- Coordinating schedules for litigation related activities (i.e. interviews, depositions, etc. with college employees, external counsel and insurance representatives)
- Assisting in the formation and dissolution of legal entities, including working with outside counsel in the US and abroad
- Reviewing contracts to ensure legal compliance and consistency with College’s policies and procedures
- Responding to requests from internal and external sources as necessary
- Assisting the attorneys as needed in day-to-day activities, including general administrative support, as required by business and legal needs
- Performing a variety of OGC administrative duties
- Assist in maintaining the minutes and records of the Board of Trustees
- Track external counsel legal bills
- Other duties and projects, as required by business and legal needs
Required Skills

- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Expert in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required

- Ability to work in a diverse environment with minimal supervision and shifting priorities
- Experience with drafting corporate documents strongly preferred
- Ability to perform legal research in LexisNexis and /or Westlaw.
- Knowledge of legal terminology
- Broad background with exposure to a variety of issues, as the person in this role will deal with a wide array of matters
Required Experience
- Undergraduate degree; Paralegal certification
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a paralegal in a law firm and/or large company setting
- At least 1 year of corporate paralegal experience preferred
